Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Goodridge (ranked 4399 p4p, 4405 weight class) and Hunor Vitez (ranked 169 p4p, 0 weight class). Goodridge is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Goodridge! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Hunor Vitez! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Steve Montenegro and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vitez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Goodridge is breathing heavily. Goodridge swats away the attempt to clinch by Vitez. Vitez shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Goodridge defends it nicely. Goodridge tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Vitez manages to circle out of the way. Goodridge shoots in but no luck this time. Vitez tries to clinch but Goodridge is having none of it. Vitez shoots in looking for a takedown but Goodridge manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vitez's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Vitez fails miserably with a takedown attempt. John Goodridge has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hunor Vitez. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Goodridge misses with the combination.

Vitez is trying to pull guard but Goodridge has him pressed against the cage. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Goodridge. Goodridge is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Vitez pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vitez is looking to break free of the clinch but Goodridge has double underhooks. Vitez decides to pull guard. Vitez keeping moving, preventing Goodridge from controlling successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Goodridge preventing the sweep. Vitez throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Vitez is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Goodridge checks a low kick from Vitez. Goodridge takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Vitez goes for a double leg but Goodridge avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Goodridge continues to drive forward. Goodridge is looking to counter the offense by Vitez and move into the clinch. Vitez fails with a takedown attempt. Vitez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Goodridge as he jumps to the side.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Goodridge closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Vitez quickly recovers to half guard. Goodridge trying to mount his opponent but Vitez defends it. Vitez is refusing to be controlled, as Goodridge sits in half guard. Vitez is trying to get back to full guard. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Goodridge tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vitez knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Hunor Vitez will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! Vitez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Goodridge paws at him with a jab and circles away. Vitez shoots in looking for a takedown. Goodridge tries to sprawl out of it but Vitez keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Goodridge manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Goodridge tries to keep at a distance but Vitez has taken the fight into the clinch. Vitez creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vitez tries to break free but Goodridge pushes him back against the cage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Vitez successfully pulls guard.
Vitez looking for a sweep. Not yet Vitez, not yet. Vitez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Goodridge got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vitez has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Goodridge has managed to get both his arms back between Vitez's legs - danger averted. Goodridge won't allow Vitez to get back to his feet.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Vitez rushes Goodridge and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Vitez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Vitez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Goodridge is one step ahead there.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Goodridge shoots in and gets a takedown into Vitez's guard. Vitez wants to get back to his feet but Goodridge passes into half guard.
Goodridge is working for a kimura but Vitez is defending it quite comfortably.
Goodridge takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Hunor Vitez will probably get the nod - 10:9. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! Goodridge throws a solid leg kick but Vitez takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Goodridge. Vitez looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Goodridge is fending him off so far but Vitez persists. Nope, Goodridge circles away and we're back to standing. Nice sprawl there from Goodridge as Vitez shoots in. Goodridge feinted with a counter takedown. Vitez pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Goodridge back to the cage. Vitez follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Goodridge pulls out of a head kick attempt.

That's going to take a lot out of Hunor Vitez. Goodridge displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Vitez. Goodridge is looking to advance position but Vitez won't allow it. Vitez looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Goodridge wants to take a breather but Vitez is having none of it. Vitez won't allow Goodridge to pass to mount.

Vitez wants to get back to full guard. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Goodridge looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Vitez with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Goodridge is keen to just control but Vitez is a slippery customer.

That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Goodridge has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Goodridge misses with a punch on the inside.

John Goodridge has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Hunor Vitez is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Goodridge goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
And that's the end of the fight! John Goodridge showed his dominance in that final round. I think Vitez has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
