Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brock Lesnar!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Aleksandr Martynov and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lesnar tries to land a body kick

and Begaye counters with a single leg into guard. Lesnar didn't expect that.

Lesnar is looking for a triangle here but Begaye uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Lesnar tries to bench press Begaye off him but Begaye keeps the position.
Begaye cracks Lesnar with an elbow. That is naaassty.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lesnar tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Begaye wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Begaye working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
We've been hearing good reports from Begaye's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Lesnar is looking to reverse the position.
Begaye working away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lesnar is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Begaye is staying active.
Lesnar is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Begaye's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.

Lesnar is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Begaye scores with a couple of nice shots.

Lesnar wants to control but Begaye is keeping busy.
Lesnar tries to get to full guard but Begaye has control of the leg.
Lesnar moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Lesnar is looking for a triangle but Begaye pushes his legs off easily.

Lesnar is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Lesnar is trying to control the position but Begaye postures up.
Begaye with a nice head shot there.
Begaye scores with a decent looking elbow strike.

Lesnar looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lesnar utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Lesnar is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Begaye has his hands clasped together but Lesnar extends and breaks Begaye's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Lesnar.
