PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brian Hill (ranked 1828 p4p, 2304 weight class) and Joe Diddy (ranked 0 p4p, 297 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Diddy's choice of entrance music: lvl99ROIDMAGE. Joe Diddy is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brian Hill!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Joe Diddy!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Bart Greer and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Diddy throws a jab but it's blocked by Hill.
Hill shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Diddy pinned against the cage. Diddy gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Diddy manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hill on his heels. He'll look to pass Hill's guard now, I'm sure.

Hill looking for a guillotine here but Diddy defends easily.

Hill definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hill is refusing to be controlled, as Diddy sits in half guard.
Diddy wants to free his trapped foot but Hill is holding on for dear life with his legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hill has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Diddy is working away from the top position though.
Hill won't allow Diddy to pass to mount.

Hill moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Diddy is pushing down on Hill's leg trying to pass to half guard. Hill is fighting to maintain full guard but Diddy has managed to sneak the leg through.

Diddy is trying to work for a kimura but Hill is defending well.
Diddy seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hill does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hill controls Diddy momentarily but Diddy frees himself.

We've been informed that Diddy has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Hill looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Diddy throwing strikes from guard but Hill blocks nicely.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hill not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Diddy stands and throws Hill's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Check out the look on Diddy's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Joe Diddy dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Diddy ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A decent looking cross lands there for Diddy.

Hill gets caught flat footed, as Diddy shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hill is adopting a defensive guard.
Hill keeping moving, preventing Diddy from controlling successfully.

Diddy thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Diddy wants to pass the guard but Hill is keeping the position.

Diddy drops back looking for a leg! Hill is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Hill manages to kick Diddy off! Diddy jumps back into Hill's guard.
Diddy loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Hill looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Diddy accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Hill is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Diddy keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Hill's head.
Diddy wants to pass the guard but Hill is keeping the position.
Diddy won't allow Hill to sweep him here.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Diddy is looking to advance position but Hill has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Hill tries to control but Diddy wriggling away.
Diddy is looking to improve his position but Hill isn't that keen on the idea.

Hill wants to finish this one by submission but Diddy is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Hill.

Hill looking to secure an arm triangle but Diddy defends it well.
Hill can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Diddy is looking to escape.
Diddy is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Hill wants to control the pace but Diddy is squirming around nicely.
Diddy sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Hill prevents Diddy from improving his position.

Hill is looking for a kimura here.

Hill is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Diddy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hill's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hill's back!

Diddy is trying to stick to Hill's back but Hill is turning into Diddy. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Diddy's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Hill.
Hill wants to control from the top but Diddy keeps moving.

Hill drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Hill seems to have locked his on tight now - Diddy screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Hill, as he picks up the win!

Our winner, Brian Hill, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
