Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 8 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ryder Morningstar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alonzo Wagner! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Morningstar misses with an uppercut
and Wagner counters with a nice double leg into guard. Wagner passes Morningstar's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Morningstar is trying to control but can't.
Morningstar won't allow Wagner to pass to mount. Wagner not doing much here.
Wagner has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Wagner controlling the pace for now. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Wagner misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Morningstar is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Wagner lands a heavy elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Poor strikes thrown by Wagner there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Wagner is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Morningstar can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Wagner has hold of an arm here, looking to extend it. He's committed to the armbar attempt here! Will he get it?! Yes! Morningstar is forced to tap!
