Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mark Hughes!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Batu Otgonbayar!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Andrew Berry and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hughes tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Otgonbayar swivels and escapes.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Otgonbayar! But no joy.
Hughes looks for a takedown but Otgonbayar sprawls well.
A little jabbing left from Otgonbayar on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Hughes manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Otgonbayar on his heels. He'll look to pass Otgonbayar's guard now, I'm sure.
Hughes wants to pass the guard but Otgonbayar is keeping the position.
Hughes is working hard here to advance position.
Hughes forces his way into half guard.

Hughes is looking for a kimura but Otgonbayar is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hughes to get the leverage.
Otgonbayar looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hughes trying to pass the guard but Otgonbayar defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hughes is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Otgonbayar has managed to free his arm - good work.
Hughes passes to side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hughes tries to advance position but instead Otgonbayar slips a leg back in to half guard.
Otgonbayar won't allow Hughes to pass to mount.

Hughes is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Otgonbayar won't allow Hughes to pass to mount.
Hughes works his way into full mount!

Otgonbayar defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Hughes.

Hughes looking to secure an arm triangle but Otgonbayar defends it well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hughes with some aggressive grappling here, looking for the finish.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hughes looking for a guillotine from mount but Otgonbayar is having none of it.
Hughes wants to take Otgonbayar's back but he can't do it this time.
Hughes mounts Otgonbayar! Really nice guard pass there!
Hughes moves to take his opponent's back.
Hughes seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Otgonbayar won't enjoy being in this position. Hughes looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Otgonbayar is tapping - it's over boys! Hughes picks up the submission victory!

A relieved looking Mark Hughes thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
