The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
River missing with a left hand there. Akutagawa was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
River uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Akutagawa.
River throws an overhand right that lands on Akutagawa's shoulder, as Akutagawa tries to avoid the shot.
River goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
We've been told by Akutagawa's head coaches at Fist of Fury Training Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

That was a close round but I would say that Ryu Akutagawa will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Clint River seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Akutagawa is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from River lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Akutagawa has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Akutagawa and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
River fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Akutagawa looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
