Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jack McScramble (ranked 2838 p4p, 3119 weight class) and Ron Funches (ranked 239 p4p, 260 weight class). Ron Funches will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 16 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jack McScramble!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ron Funches!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Funches fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and McScramble has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
We've been hearing reports that McScramble has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
McScramble slips under a jab.
McScramble tries to counter with a takedown but Funches is quick to defend against it.
McScramble keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

McScramble shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Funches fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt McScramble.

McScramble half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Funches buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

McScramble gets tackled into the cage by Funches. Funches maintains the clinch.
Funches is trying to push McScramble away but McScramble has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Funches has a couple of punches blocked by McScramble.

Funches lands a nice uppercut.
McScramble leaning against his opponent.
Funches is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. McScramble is defending well for now.

McScramble gets through Funches's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

McScramble tries for a takedown. No joy.
Funches pushes McScramble back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
McScramble has Funches pressed against the cage, preventing Funches from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Funches lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of McScramble backwards.
McScramble blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Funches swings wildly with an uppercut but McScramble uses good head movement to avoid it.
Funches landing some nice looking knees to the body.

McScramble dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.
Funches tries a body shot but McScramble blocks it.

The referee is keeping an eye on McScramble - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

McScramble gets a trip takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
McScramble working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Funches's thigh. Funches counters though and makes it back to full guard.

McScramble won't allow Funches to get back to his feet.

Funches keeping moving, preventing McScramble from controlling successfully.
McScramble seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Funches wants to get back to his feet but McScramble is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

McScramble drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Funches dives on top into guard.

McScramble tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McScramble controls Funches momentarily but Funches frees himself.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
McScramble bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Funches's guard.

Funches really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McScramble. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McScramble trying to move into half guard but instead Funches has managed to sweep!

McScramble is trying to control the position from the bottom.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ron Funches dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Funches throws out a loose jab but McScramble uses good head movement to avoid it.
Ron Funches seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and McScramble counters with a nice double leg into side control. Funches won't be happy with that.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

McScramble advances nicely into full mount.
Funches's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

McScramble moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Funches has worked his arm free - good work by Funches!
Funches is looking to work his way out of this bad position but McScramble is controlling him well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McScramble sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Funches is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
The ground and pound from McScramble seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Funches is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McScramble has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Funches prevents McScramble from improving position.
McScramble in side control, throwing shots but Funches defends.

McScramble tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no McScramble has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

McScramble has an Americana. Funches didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! McScramble is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if McScramble hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Our winner, Jack McScramble, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
