Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Yu Sei Songwong (ranked 2023 p4p, 1927 weight class) and Tyson Hargrave (ranked 248 p4p, 236 weight class). Hargrave is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Mastodon - High Road. Tyson Hargrave has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Yu Sei Songwong! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tyson Hargrave! The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Alec Ball and Gregory Folan.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hargrave swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Songwong takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Hargrave slips a straight right by Songwong. Songwong drops his hands momentarily and Hargrave takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Hargrave wants to clinch but Songwong slips to the side and Songwong counters with a shoot takedown. Hargrave fights it but they end up in guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Songwong avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Songwong sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Hargrave's guard. Hargrave won't allow Songwong to pass to mount. Hargrave tries to roll over but Songwong keeps him under control. Songwong is looking for a kimura here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Songwong is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hargrave is just riding it out for now. Songwong eventually gives up the hold. Songwong is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Hargrave has managed to free his arm - good work. Hargrave is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Songwong pulls his head out easily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Hargrave makes his way to full guard, as Songwong worked for a kimura.
Hargrave is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Songwong tries to free his leg and advance position but Hargrave is retaining full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hargrave has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Songwong can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Songwong loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Songwong won't allow Hargrave to sweep him here. Hargrave keeping moving, preventing Songwong from controlling successfully. Songwong forces his way into half guard. Hargrave wants to get back to full guard. Hargrave felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Songwong is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Hargrave is just riding it out for now. Songwong eventually gives up the hold. Songwong seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hargrave does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Yu Sei Songwong will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Hargrave misses with a body shot.
As Hargrave backs away, Songwong returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Hargrave lands a jab. A telegraphed right hand from Hargrave misses the target. A slow jab from Hargrave misses its intended target. Songwong throws a counter high kick but Hargrave was just alert enough to avoid it. Tyson Hargrave seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Songwong gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Hargrave misses with a hook. Songwong ducked under it nicely. Songwong changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hargrave looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hargrave is looking to reverse the position. Songwong controls the position. Songwong landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Songwong working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hargrave tries to buck Songwong off but Songwong is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Songwong goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Hargrave rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Songwong's guard! Nice work there by Hargrave! Songwong escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hargrave gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Songwong looking for a guillotine here but Hargrave defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Hargrave's corner is telling him to maintain position. Hargrave wants to control from the top but Songwong keeps moving. Songwong trying to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Hargrave throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Songwong. Songwong swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Hargrave swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Songwong quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect. Hargrave misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Songwong.
Songwong looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Hargrave throws a shot from downtown. Songwong moves away and avoids it. Hargrave uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Songwong has time to react. Hargrave takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away. Tyson Hargrave seems to be getting the better of the standup. Hargrave throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Songwong sees it coming and avoids it easily. Hargrave swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Songwong moves out of range of the strikes. As Hargrave backs away, Songwong returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Hargrave swings for the body but Songwong moves out of range.

Tyson Hargrave showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round! Hargrave walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Songwong drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Hargrave swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Songwong's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Tyson Hargrave! Tyson Hargrave tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
