PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adams Menday (ranked 429 p4p, 544 weight class) and Lou Higgins (ranked 63 p4p, 82 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adams Menday!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lou Higgins!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Ren Mimura and Yukihiro Yamamoto.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Higgins takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Menday manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Higgins on his heels. He'll look to pass Higgins's guard now, I'm sure.

Higgins has his feet on Menday's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

Menday shoots in and bounces Higgins off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Menday postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Menday wants to control from the top but Higgins keeps moving.
Menday has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Menday throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Higgins was covering up waiting for the punch and Menday finishes the takedown easily into guard.

We've been hearing that Menday has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Higgins felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Menday takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Menday changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Higgins looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Menday is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Higgins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Menday has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Higgins has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Menday's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Menday lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

A relieved looking Adams Menday thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
