Abott is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by That Smell. Mikheil Dgebuadze has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dgebuadze tries for a takedown but Abott circles away easily

and Abott counters with a takedown into side control.
Dgebuadze is trying to control Abott's posture but Abott avoids it.
Abott is working Dgebuadze over with some ground and pound from side control.

Dgebuadze is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Dgebuadze wants to control but Abott postures up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dgebuadze really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Abott looks up at the clock and then as Dgebuadze takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Abott smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
We've been hearing good reports from Dgebuadze's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Dgebuadze is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Abott pulls his head out easily.

Abott lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Dgebuadze is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dgebuadze tries to roll over but Abott keeps him under control.
Abott drops an elbow to the side of Dgebuadze's head.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Abott is just content to waste time from the top position. Dgebuadze takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Dgebuadze is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Abott postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Abott has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Dgebuadze to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Abott is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Dgebuadze pulls down on the head and he's put Abott to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mikheil Dgebuadze!
