PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Devon Black (ranked 945 p4p, 1612 weight class) and Kaven May Jr (ranked 125 p4p, 206 weight class). May Jr has chosen HonestKey- Self Discovery as his entrance music. Kaven May Jr will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Devon Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kaven May Jr!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Elvis Blanc and Trevor Gratis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black shoots in and drives through. May Jr sprawls well.
May Jr connects with a crisp jab.
Black scores with a jab to the body.
May Jr with a nice calf kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - May Jr looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
May Jr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Black manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Black takes a swing at May Jr's ribcage but misses.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from May Jr! But no joy.
Black swats away the attempt to clinch by May Jr.
Black appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
May Jr misses with a right hand

and Black counters with a nice double leg into side control. May Jr won't be happy with that.

May Jr bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Black shoots in but May Jr avoids the takedown attempt easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Black misses with a combination
and May Jr counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Black pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Black throws a jab when May Jr was well out of range.
A big right from Black misses.

May Jr pushes Black up against the cage in a clinch.
May Jr misses with a body punch.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as May Jr takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.
May Jr lands a shoulder strike.
May Jr swings away with an uppercut that misses.
A head punch on the inside from May Jr fails to land.
May Jr fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
May Jr lands a shoulder strike.
Black working aggressively here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
May Jr swings wildly with an uppercut but Black uses good head movement to avoid it.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, May Jr creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Black is trying to maintain a safe position but May Jr gets an underhook and turns Black into the cage.
May Jr doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
May Jr working some nice short punches in the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
May Jr misses with a short punch on the inside.

Black is trying to trip May Jr. He has hold of a leg but May Jr is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Black persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

May Jr has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Black off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
May Jr throws a wild body kick that Black sees coming a mile off.
Black throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Black swats away the attempt to clinch by May Jr.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from May Jr lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Black has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Black and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
May Jr misses with a straight right.
Black tries to counter with a takedown but May Jr is quick to defend against it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
May Jr tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Black manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Black takes one to the chin there.
May Jr throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
A slow jab from Black misses its intended target.
Black swings away with a body shot that misses
and May Jr makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Black really felt that one!
May Jr will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Black swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Black feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

May Jr has his feet on Black's thighs here. He's pushed Black off and worked for a very quick armbar from the bottom! He's flipped onto his stomach and he's cranking hard on the arm! Black screams in pain and taps out! This one is all over!
