The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Vernon fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Alvarez sprawls well initially but Vernon persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Vernon (2) vs (0) Alvarez

We've been hearing good reports from Vernon's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
