Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dick Niaz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Georg Stromberg!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Columbo Gatti and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stromberg ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Stromberg scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Niaz doesn't seem bothered though.
Niaz ducks right into an uppercut from Stromberg.
It looks like Dick Niaz has been cut.
Niaz is breathing heavily.
Stromberg cracks a nice hook into Niaz's ribs.
Stromberg feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Niaz sprawling to the canvas! Niaz rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Stromberg finish him?!
Niaz is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stromberg is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Niaz flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Niaz is out cold! Stromberg holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:17 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Georg Stromberg!
