Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose Pereira! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, David Pachani! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Pachani. Pachani looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Pereira has Pachani up against the cage in a clinch.
Pereira turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Pereira manages to end up in side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pereira controlling from side mount. Pereira stands up. Jose Pereira seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pereira looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Pereira with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Pachani really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pereira. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pereira misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Pereira is looking to take a break and control but Pachani is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Pachani is staying active underneath Pereira, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Pereira missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Pereira is keen to just control but Pachani is a slippery customer.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Pachani is not content to let Pereira control the position. Pereira has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pereira misses with a head shot. Pachani uses the momentum to regain guard.
