PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kugus Amiga (ranked 23563 p4p, 23567 weight class) and Clifford Val Salvacion (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 39 - 29 - 3, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kugus Amiga!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 53 - 4, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clifford Val Salvacion!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Cecil Peabody and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Amiga with a poor takedown
and Salvacion counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Amiga is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Amiga drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Amiga throws a big right hand that misses.
Salvacion is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Amiga accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Amiga is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Salvacion has momentary wrist control but Amiga slips an elbow through the middle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Amiga not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Amiga's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Salvacion is trying hard to land a takedown here. Amiga sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Salvacion tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Amiga defends well and Salvacion ends up having to push Amiga into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
And Amiga counters with a quick kick to the body but Salvacion blocks it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Amiga tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Salvacion defends well and Amiga ends up having to push Salvacion into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Salvacion counters with a body kick.
Amiga can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kugus Amiga. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Salvacion lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Salvacion is taking a breather. Amiga says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Amiga keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Amiga wants to control but Salvacion is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Amiga is looking to improve his position.
Salvacion is figuring out what he wants to do next.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Let's hope that Salvacion has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Amiga has a takedown stuffed.
Salvacion only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Salvacion tries to score a power double leg takedown but Amiga sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Salvacion somewhat.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Clifford Val Salvacion will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Amiga shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Salvacion as he jumps to the side.
Salvacion is trying to counter with his kicks.

Amiga gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Salvacion to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Amiga has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Salvacion is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Salvacion has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Amiga is trying to keep an underhook but Salvacion manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Salvacion stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Amiga wants to control but Salvacion is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Salvacion looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Amiga is trying to maintain the position but Salvacion is very close to passing his half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Salvacion is looking to stall here but Amiga recovers full guard.
Salvacion is stalling in the full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Salvacion trying to control the position from guard on top but Amiga is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Amiga tries for a takedown but Salvacion sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
And Salvacion responds with a good body kick, but Amiga manages to step out the way in time.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Clifford Val Salvacion showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Salvacion shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Amiga but Amiga pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Salvacion closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Amiga to the mat! Amiga manages to get full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Salvacion controls from within his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Amiga trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Amiga pulls Salvacion in close to his closed guard and prevents Salvacion from doing any damage or advancing position.
Further stalling from Amiga.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Amiga is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Amiga is trying to control the position but Salvacion postures up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Salvacion gets a takedown into half guard.
Amiga tries to roll over but Salvacion keeps him under control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Amiga keeping control of the leg, stopping his opponent passing to mount.
Salvacion is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Amiga is controlling Salvacion's position as best he can from this difficult position.
Kugus Amiga has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Clifford Val Salvacion is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Salvacion performing his best blanket impression for a moment.

Amiga strikes from the bottom but Salvacion uses the opportunity to move to side control.

And that's the end of the fight!
Clifford Val Salvacion comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Salvacion has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
