Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jesse Thomas Babcock (ranked 253 p4p, 510 weight class) and Ian Carter (ranked 37 p4p, 76 weight class). Babcock comes into the arena with 70 blaring out of the sound system. Carter has chosen “Shipping up to Boston” Dropkick Murphy’s as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 19 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jesse Thomas Babcock! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ian Carter! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Steve Montenegro and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carter throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Carter throws a hook but Babcock avoids it easily. Babcock drops down looking for a counter takedown but Carter sprawls and moves away. Carter keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Babcock wants to clinch but Carter slips to the side and Carter counters with a good low kick that Babcock was not able to check. Babcock shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Carter as he jumps to the side. Carter feints a counter leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carter misses with a looping left. Babcock throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

That's one minute gone in the round. Carter lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Carter feints and then cracks Babcock's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Babcock down. A shot to the body from Babcock misses and Carter counters with a nice uppercut. Carter lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Babcock backs up against the cage.
Carter throws a right and a left that Babcock avoids nicely. Babcock changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Babcock moves out of range of the body kick. Babcock definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Carter fails in his attempt to clinch. Babcock tries to counter with a takedown but Carter is quick to defend against it. Babcock scores with a jab to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter circles away from the clinch attempt and Carter counters with a nice low kick that buckles Babcock's knee momentarily. Carter throws a series of punches but Babcock moves out of range. Babcock changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. A shot to the body from Babcock misses and Carter counters with a two punch combo. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Carter lands a lovely overhand right. Babcock throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Babcock changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Carter takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Carter misses with an uppercut. It looks like Ian Carter has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Babcock misses the body punch and Babcock takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Babcock fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Carter avoids it really well and circles away. Some wild striking there from Carter.

Babcock moves into range and connects with a jab. Babcock shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Babcock throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carter tries to counter by closing the distance. Babcock swings for the body but Carter moves out of range.
Babcock ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Carter moves away. Babcock closes the distance and clinches up with Carter, looking for a takedown. Babcock pushes Carter against the cage but Carter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Carter! But no joy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carter throws a right hand that Babcock ducks under and follows up with a left that Babcock also avoids with ease. Babcock half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Babcock is looking to wear down Carter with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Carter slips a jab and a cross from Babcock.
Babcock uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Carter has time to react. Carter lands a jab-cross combination. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Carter lands a lovely overhand right. The fight moves into the clinch position. Carter has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Carter misses with a punch to the body.

Babcock pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. A looping hook to the body misses from Babcock. Carter does a little dance to reset his feet. Babcock throws a body shot but no joy. Carter is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Babcock misses with a takedown attempt and Carter counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jesse Thomas Babcock. That's going to take a lot out of him. Babcock gets tackled into the cage by Carter. Carter maintains the clinch. A short uppercut from Carter. Babcock leaning his opponent against the cage. Carter lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Babcock backwards.

Babcock lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Babcock is looking to take this one to the mat. Carter misses with a punch to the body.

Carter pivots, looking for a leg kick but Babcock is out of range and Carter settles back down. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Babcock looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Carter! But no joy. Babcock throws a body punch but Carter moves out of range. letting Carter counter with a right hand. Carter has worked on his takedown defense in the runup to this fight and it is paying off so far.

A swing and a miss from Carter. Babcock feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Babcock loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Carter avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Babcock tries to free his leg and advance position but Carter is retaining full guard. Babcock preventing the sweep. Babcock trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Carter manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Carter sitting in guard here, content to control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Babcock looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carter is one step ahead there. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Carter drops his hands momentarily and Babcock takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. and Babcock decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Carter's guard. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Babcock missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Carter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

He's being very persistent here but Carter manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Carter working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Babcock looking to hit a scissor sweep but Carter is one step ahead there. Babcock is working hard here to advance position. Carter wants to pass the guard but Babcock is keeping the position. Babcock keeping moving, preventing Carter from controlling successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carter trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Babcock tries to land a sweep but no joy. Carter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Babcock is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Babcock manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Carter manages to get himself to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Carter is on top in guard.

Carter was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Carter with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

And that's the end of the fight! Ian Carter comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Carter winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
