Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Murilo Helfer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Gaylord (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Max Gaylord will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Helfer slips a jab and a cross from Gaylord.
Helfer scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Gaylord is trying to control Helfer's posture but Helfer avoids it.
Helfer misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Helfer is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Gaylord will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Helfer wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gaylord keeps working.
Helfer creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Gaylord sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

Helfer is looking to take a break and control but Gaylord is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Helfer takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Helfer takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Helfer shoots in and drives through. Gaylord sprawls well.
Gaylord tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Helfer swivels and escapes.

Gaylord should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Gaylord looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Helfer is fending him off so far but Gaylord persists. Nope, Helfer circles away and we're back to standing.
Gaylord will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Max Gaylord seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Helfer closes the distance and clinches.
Gaylord tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Murilo Helfer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Max Gaylord.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Helfer decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gaylord, up you get!

and Helfer counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Helfer shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Gaylord pinned against the cage. Gaylord gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gaylord lets loose with a powerful body kick. Helfer will feel that in the morning.

and Helfer counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Helfer.
Gaylord tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Helfer smiles and moves away.

and Helfer counters with a one-two to the body.
Gaylord lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Gaylord throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

letting Helfer counter with a right hand.

Gaylord looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Helfer throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Helfer throws a nice looking combination but Gaylord bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Helfer misses with a wild combination.
Helfer fails to land the takedown.
Helfer shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Helfer was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Helfer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gaylord is looking to escape.
Helfer is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Gaylord is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Helfer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gaylord looks out of his depth in this position - he's holding on tight.

Helfer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Gaylord is looking to escape.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Gaylord is trying desperately to improve position.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Gaylord throws a sloppy head kick
and Helfer makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Helfer closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Gaylord to the mat! Gaylord manages to get full guard.
Helfer wants to stand but Gaylord has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Helfer trying to control but Gaylord is working from the bottom.
Helfer works over Gaylord with some ground and pound from guard.
Gaylord keeping moving, preventing Helfer from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Helfer looking to sit in guard and control but Gaylord gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Gaylord won't allow Helfer to get back to his feet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Gaylord throws a nice inside leg kick.
Gaylord throws a sloppy body shot
and Helfer counters with a single leg into guard. Gaylord didn't expect that.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Helfer accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Helfer trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Helfer postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Gaylord is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Helfer, into his guard.

Gaylord wants to get up but he can't break Helfer's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Helfer is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Helfer is looking to advance position but Gaylord won't allow it.
And that's the end of the fight!
Murilo Helfer showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Helfer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
