PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hideyoshi Yamasaki (ranked 2753 p4p, 2445 weight class) and Grant Daws (ranked 338 p4p, 302 weight class). Yamasaki comes into the arena with 2Pac - Only God Can Judge Me blaring out of the sound system. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Hideyoshi Yamasaki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 1, fighting out of London, Grant Daws !
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Eddie Farnsworth and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Daws closes the distance and clinches.
Daws tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
A nice left hand lands by Daws .
Yamasaki fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Daws will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Yamasaki up against the cage.
Yamasaki pushes Daws back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Yamasaki breaks the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Daws takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Daws doesn't manage to clinch there - Yamasaki circles away.
Daws is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Yamasaki cracks Daws with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Yamasaki connects with a good right hand that stumbles Daws . Daws circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Yamasaki throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

and Yamasaki counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Daws thinking.
Nice uppercut lands for Yamasaki. That snapped Daws 's head back.
Daws takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
We've been told by Yamasaki's head coaches at California Top Team that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Daws catches Yamasaki with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

and Yamasaki counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Daws fails with an attempt to clinch.
A counter left hand to the body from Yamasaki misses its target.
Yamasaki throws a lazy right hand but Daws sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Daws ducks under a wild hook from Yamasaki.
Yamasaki scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Nice uppercut lands for Yamasaki. That snapped Daws 's head back.
Daws lands a nice shot to the body.
Daws moves out of range as Yamasaki strikes.
Yamasaki throws a combination that misses
and Daws counters with a nice uppercut.
Yamasaki throws a jab when Daws was well out of range.

Daws fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Yamasaki, pushing him back against the cage.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Hideyoshi Yamasaki dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Daws takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Yamasaki misses with a low kick.
Daws moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Daws is looking to clinch.
An attempted straight right counter from Yamasaki misses the target.
Yamasaki misses with a left hand
and Daws counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Yamasaki throws a looping overhand right but Daws ducks down to avoid it.
A decent looking cross lands there for Yamasaki.
Yamasaki is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Daws can do to turn this around?

Daws swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Yamasaki throws a chopping leg kick but Daws manages to avoid taking any serious damage.

Yamasaki's jab looks to have found its range, popping Daws under the eye.

Oooooh!!! Yamasaki has knocked Daws down with a huge combo! Yamasaki steps away and waves a wobbly Daws back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

Daws is rocked!

Yamasaki stalks Daws and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Daws 's face. Daws staggers backwards, shaken.

Yamasaki avoids the body shot from Daws .
Yamasaki cracks Daws with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Daws tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Yamasaki pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Daws is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:24 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hideyoshi Yamasaki!
Hideyoshi Yamasaki decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
