This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 19 wins and 25 losses; Gaston Juncker! And in the blue corner, fighting out of New York, with a TWGC record of 37 wins and 22 losses; Vasiliy Kulik! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Juncker is defended easily by Kulik. Juncker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Kulik sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Juncker somewhat. Kulik is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Kulik forces Juncker back against the ropes and clinches. Kulik turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Kulik manages to end up in side control. You can see the frustration on Juncker's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Juncker tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kulik wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Juncker is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Kulik seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
