PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Stony Marciano (ranked 2800 p4p, 5300 weight class) and Kolo Ransom (ranked 307 p4p, 427 weight class). Marciano comes to the cage accompanied by IQ 98. Kolo Ransom told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ransom takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Ransom ducks right into an uppercut from Marciano.
Marciano closes the distance looking to clinch

and Ransom counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Marciano is looking to control Ransom's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Marciano avoid being mounted?
Marciano keeps control of the position for the meantime.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ransom is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Marciano sees it coming and defends easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marciano tries to get to full guard but Ransom has control of the leg.

Marciano knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ransom on the ground.
Marciano is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Ransom jumps into side control!
Marciano is trying to control Ransom's posture but Ransom avoids it.

Ransom is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Marciano knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Ransom is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Marciano is trying to escape and Ransom transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Marciano is forced to tap! Nice work there by Ransom! Very nice indeed!
