Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kwame Nti (ranked 447 p4p, 395 weight class) and Peguero Jean Philippe (ranked 73 p4p, 62 weight class). Philippe has chosen Chant vaudou haitien as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 29 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Kwame Nti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 32 - 25 - 0, fighting out of London, Peguero Jean Philippe! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Philippe misses with a body shot.
Nti half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Philippe misses with a left hand and Nti counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Philippe thinking. Philippe throws a lazy uppercut
and Philippe takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Philippe misses with a right hand and Nti connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Philippe misses with a looping left. Nti swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Nti lands with a good body shot. Nti uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Philippe. Nti keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Philippe misses with a hook to the body
and Nti cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Nti on the wrong end of a nice hook. Nti connects with a right hand. Philippe shakes it off. Philippe throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Nti wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

Philippe throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Nti on the side of the head. Philippe keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nti. Nti looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. A slow jab from Nti misses its intended target. Philippe throws a right hand that misses
and Nti counters with a left to the body. Philippe shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Philippe fails to land with a series of punches.
Peguero Jean Philippe is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Philippe is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Nti. Nti tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Philippe manages to circle out of the way.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nti lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

It looks like Kwame Nti has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Philippe throws a hook to the side of Nti's head but Nti sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Nti closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Philippe did well to prevent Nti getting side control. Philippe wants to stand back up but Nti manages to pass into side control.
Philippe is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nti asserts his dominance and retains side control. Philippe trying to remain calm as Nti controls from the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Philippe is trying to buck Nti off. Nti is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Philippe will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. The referee is pacing around the two fighters, thinking about a standup. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Nti takes one to the side of the head.
Philippe closes the distance and lands a one-two. Philippe throws a lazy uppercut
and Nti connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Nti shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Nti controlling the action here. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Kwame Nti dominated that round. The cut man is working on Kwame Nti's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Philippe fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Philippe scores with the left hand. Nti knows he should have avoided that one. Nti dives in for a single leg takedown but Philippe sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Philippe is pressed up against the cage. Nti has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Philippe down to the mat. Philippe avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Philippe digs a good hook to Nti's body.
Philippe pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Philippe gets caught napping as Nti dives in and scores a takedown. Philippe manages to retain guard. Philippe wants to stand but Nti is controlling the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Philippe is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Nti might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Nti is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nti has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Philippe wants to stand but Nti is controlling the position. Philippe is looking to stand back up but Nti counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Philippe. Philippe is trying to stand back up but Nti is controlling him
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Philippe manages to escape and get back to his feet! Nti changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Philippe tries to avoid it but Nti manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Philippe to the ground. Philippe escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kwame Nti. That's going to take a lot out of him. Nti staying out of range there. Nti steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Philippe. Philippe misses with a few strikes there.

That's three minutes gone in the round. A big right from Philippe misses. Philippe misses with an uppercut. A cross from Nti lands. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Nti is defended easily by Philippe. Philippe catches Nti with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Philippe lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Excellent takedown into side control there by Nti. The referee asks Nti politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Nti prefers to stall for the moment though. Philippe is trying to escape and get back to his feet. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
Peguero Jean Philippe showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Kwame Nti's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round! Nti is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Philippe waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Nti. Philippe misses with a right hand and Nti counters with a lovely straight right hand! Peguero Jean Philippe seems to be getting the better of the standup. Philippe throws an overhand right that lands on Nti's shoulder, as Nti tries to avoid the shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. A momentary lapse in concentration from Philippe enables Nti to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Philippe manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Philippe wants to get back to his feet but Nti is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Nti showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Nti won't allow Philippe to get back to his feet.

Philippe is trying to stand up here but Nti is controlling him well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Philippe has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Nti is on him like a limpet, forcing Philippe back against the cage.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kwame Nti. I think Nti has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
