Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Paulo Blikstein (ranked 1276 p4p, 957 weight class) and Juan Carlos (ranked 182 p4p, 145 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 22 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Paulo Blikstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Juan Carlos!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlos misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Blikstein tried to counter with a leg kick but Carlos avoided it.
Carlos getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Blikstein fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Blikstein throws a head kick but Carlos moves out of range.
It seemed like Carlos was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Blikstein on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Carlos throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Carlos's corner calls for a 1-2. Carlos obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Carlos feints a jab promting Blikstein to slip. Carlos then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Blikstein slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Blikstein looking to score a takedown here. Carlos is defending well but Blikstein drives through and ends up in Carlos's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Carlos trying to keep a closed guard but Blikstein is proving a slippery customer.

Blikstein with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Carlos has his hands on Blikstein's head, controlling the position.
Blikstein will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Blikstein keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Carlos's head.

Carlos looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Blikstein drops down looking for a counter takedown but Carlos sprawls and moves away.
Carlos throws a head kick that misses.

Nice sprawl there from Carlos as Blikstein shoots in.
Carlos shoots in but Blikstein avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A quick step to the side and Blikstein tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Carlos throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Blikstein stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Carlos throws a body shot but no joy.
Blikstein is looking to counter punch.
Carlos misses with a wild body shot.
Carlos avoids the body shot from Blikstein.
Carlos keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carlos throws out a powerful jab.
Blikstein takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Carlos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Blikstein circles away quickly and effectively.
Blikstein throws a body shot but no joy.
Carlos looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Blikstein seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Carlos digs a good body shot into Blikstein's ribs.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

Carlos swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Blikstein throws a big counter combination but Carlos scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Blikstein ducks under a wild hook from Carlos.
Carlos circles away from the clinch attempt.
Good standup being displayed there by Carlos as he connects with a hook.
Blikstein takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Carlos. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Carlos pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Blikstein back to the cage. Carlos follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Carlos throws a series of punches but Blikstein avoids them all with ease.
Blikstein fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Carlos tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

and Blikstein counters with a leg kick.
Carlos is looking to score with low kicks.

Blikstein lands a big head kick that sends Carlos tumbling to the mat! Blikstein takes a step backwards and waves Carlos back to his feet - he wants the finish!

It looks like Juan Carlos has been cut.
Blikstein misses with a combination
and Carlos counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Carlos throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Carlos closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Carlos stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Blikstein swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.

Juan Carlos showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

It looked like Blikstein was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Carlos will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Blikstein avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Carlos shoots in looking for a takedown but Blikstein manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Carlos's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Blikstein looks up at the clock and then as Carlos takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Blikstein smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Carlos dodges the ground and pound from Blikstein.
You can see the frustration on Carlos's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Paulo Blikstein overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Blikstein scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Carlos to see if he's OK.
Carlos is looking to regain half guard here but Blikstein keeps moving and retains side control.
Carlos gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Blikstein seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Carlos does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Blikstein is nestled in close to Carlos, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Blikstein slips a nice elbow through Carlos's hands, connecting with Carlos's forehead.
Carlos is still in real trouble! Can Blikstein finish him?

Blikstein scores with a big shot! Carlos's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Carlos! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
