Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Vino Kourov (ranked 1972 p4p, 2757 weight class) and Dodong Janjan (ranked 156 p4p, 202 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Kourov might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to COME ON. Janjan has chosen Love Addict as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vino Kourov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dodong Janjan!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Konstantin Menshow and Aleksandr Martynov.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Janjan thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kourov throws a hook but Janjan avoids it easily.
Kourov misses with a looping left.
Kourov takes a swing at Janjan's ribcage but misses.
Janjan looks like he wants to counter punch here.
We've been told by Kourov's head coaches at St Petersburg MMA Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Kourov lands a two punch combo.

It looks like Dodong Janjan has been cut.
Kourov takes one on the button.

Kourov gets a clinch.
Kourov lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Janjan tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kourov lands a body shot.
Janjan prevents a body shot from Kourov.
Janjan's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Janjan stalling in the clinch but Kourov improves position.

Kourov breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Janjan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kourov sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Kourov misses with a hook. Janjan ducked under it nicely.
A nice side step and Janjan releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kourov. Janjan does a little dance to reset his feet.

Kourov tries to clinch up but Janjan circles away and keeps his distance.

Janjan shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Vino Kourov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dodong Janjan.

Kourov closes the distance and pushes Janjan back into the cage.

Kourov breaks from the clinch.
Kourov throws a right and a left that both miss.
Kourov looks to land a combination but Janjan avoids it well.
A little jabbing left from Janjan on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Kourov clinches with his opponent.
Janjan changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kourov fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kourov tries to clinch up.
Janjan slips under a jab.
Kourov scores with a jab to the head.
Kourov misses with a body shot
and Janjan counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Kourov tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Janjan manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Despite the aggression on Janjan's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Kourov closes the distance looking to clinch
and Janjan counters with a nice uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kourov lands with a hook. Janjan tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Janjan fails with the takedown
and Kourov counters with a big right hand! Oh Janjan is in trouble here! Kourov follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Vino Kourov!
A less than humble Vino Kourov misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
