Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Deanthony Pederson (ranked 457 p4p, 922 weight class) and Scooter Ham (ranked 48 p4p, 105 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Deanthony Pederson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Scooter Ham! The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ham misses the jab. Pederson shoots in and drives through. Ham sprawls well. Pederson slips a straight right by Ham. Ham scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pederson doesn't seem bothered though. Ham will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A looping hook to the body misses from Pederson. Ham does a little dance to reset his feet. Ham misses with a looping left. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ham bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Pederson's head. Pederson shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Pederson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ham's head.

He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Pederson is keen to just control but Ham is a slippery customer. Ham keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Ham really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pederson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pederson is trying to control. Ham wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ham is trying to get back to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Pederson is looking to pass Ham's guard but actually Ham recovers to full guard. Ham is pulling down on Pederson's head to control his posture. Pederson wants to control from the top but Ham keeps moving.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Pederson shoots and misses and Ham counters with a nice uppercut. The fighters circling - Pederson throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ham throws a leg kick which misses Pederson's front leg but catches the back leg as Pederson tries to avoid it. Pederson connects with the punch. Pederson avoids a kick to the body.
Ham misses with a wild body shot. Pederson appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Ham thuds his shin into the meat of Pederson's side. Ham throws a low kick but it's checked well by Pederson. Pederson misses with a takedown and Ham counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Deanthony Pederson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Ham takes a swing at Pederson's ribcage but misses. Pederson drops down looking for a counter takedown but Ham sprawls and moves away. Pederson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ham pinned against the cage. Ham gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Ham let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

Ham throws a leg kick that is checked and Pederson counters with a shoot takedown. Ham fights it but they end up in guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Pederson wants to control from the top but Ham keeps moving. Ham lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Ham must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

You can't force these things though and Ham defends well. Pederson looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ham is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Ham tries to free his leg and advance position but Pederson is retaining full guard.
That's six minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ham controlling from the top position. Pederson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ham gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Pederson keeping full guard, as Ham tries to pass. Pederson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ham's guard. Pederson passes into half guard.

Pederson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ham's head. Pederson takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. We've been hearing that Pederson has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Pederson passes to full mount! Pederson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Ham's face.

That's eight minutes gone in the round. Even with his hooks in, Pederson manages to miss with strikes from the back. Ham trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble. Pederson has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Ham. Pederson is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Pederson is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Ham knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Ham for a finish.

Ham is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Ham perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. He's got hold of Ham's far side arm and it looks like he's got an Americana. Ohh! Ohhhh! OOOOOOOOOH! A human being's arm is not meant to bend like that! Ham is tapping like a morse code operator on the Titanic! SOS SOS! He's out of here! Great win for Pederson!
