This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Las Vegas, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 1 losses; Barkeep Quark! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 22 wins and 26 losses; Chozen Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Chris Saunders, Josh West and Paul Gruel.
The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Quark rushes Gracie and presses him up against the cage.
Gracie tightens his grip and picks Quark up, before dumping him to the ground. Quark manages to land in guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Quark (0) vs (2) Gracie
Quark is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well.
Gracie stays in close to Quark's body and controls the position.
It looks like Gracie might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

My spies in Alpha Brasil inform me that Gracie has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Quark is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Gracie defends well.
Quark pulls Gracie in close to his closed guard and prevents Gracie from doing any damage or advancing position.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Quark is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Gracie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Quark swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Quark throws his legs up looking for a submission but Gracie uses it to pass to side control.

Quark tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Gracie wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Quark tries to hold on but Gracie pushes him away.
Quark is trying to reverse the position but instead Gracie has taken his back - oops! Score +3 for taking back: Quark (0) vs (10) Gracie
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Gracie's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Quark tries to escape but Gracie has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quark is working hard here to advance position.

Gracie controlling the position well here. Quark rolled but Gracie kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Quark trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Quark might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Gracie keeps control of the position as Quark tries to break free.

You can see the frustration on Quark's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Gracie has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Quark has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Gracie has the hooks in. Quark is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Gracie is riding his opponent, not letting Quark buck him off.

Gracie has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Quark's body.
Gracie is looking to control Quark but Quark is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Quark is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at The House Of Pain, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quark tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Quark tries to improve his position but Gracie has taken his back! Gracie has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Quark tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Gracie pushes Quark away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
