Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Deon Graves (ranked 1945 p4p, 2785 weight class) and Micah Hawk (ranked 200 p4p, 273 weight class). Graves comes to the cage accompanied by THE ZOO. Deon Graves could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Micah Hawk's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Deon Graves!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 33 - 25 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Micah Hawk!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Phil Schofield and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Graves scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Graves scores with a hook to the body. Hawk takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Graves rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Hawk counters with a stiff right hand.
Graves throws an ugly left hook that misses

and Hawk counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Graves is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Hawk is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Graves defends well.

Graves got a little sloppy there for a moment and Hawk has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Graves has managed to get both his arms back between Hawk's legs - danger averted.

We've been hearing good reports from Graves's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Hawk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Graves gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Graves has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Hawk has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Graves is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Hawk defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hawk accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

That was a close round but I would say that Deon Graves will probably get the nod.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

I think Hawk has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
