PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Renji Abarai (ranked 135 p4p, 153 weight class) and Jorgen Kruth (ranked 14 p4p, 15 weight class). Kruth comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Black Hole Sun- Soundgarden kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 29 - 11 - 1, fighting out of New York, Renji Abarai!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 22 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jorgen Kruth!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, Daniel Bishop and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kruth tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Abarai swivels and escapes.
Kruth shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Abarai but Abarai pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Kruth's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Abarai connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Kruth scrambles back to his feet.
Kruth fails to land the takedown.
Renji Abarai has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorgen Kruth.

Kruth throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Abarai was covering up waiting for the punch and Kruth finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Abarai has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Kruth has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Kruth goes for a takedown attempt but Abarai pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Kruth is defended easily by Abarai.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kruth changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Abarai tries to avoid it but Kruth manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Abarai to the ground. Abarai escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Abarai moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Abarai ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kruth moves away.

Abarai throws a low kick, looking for Kruth's leg but Kruth calmly moves out of range.
Abarai connects with an inside leg kick.
Kruth tries to score a power double leg takedown but Abarai sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Kruth somewhat.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kruth shoots in looking for a takedown. Abarai tries to sprawl out of it but Kruth keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Abarai manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
