This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the super heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 76 wins and 39 losses; Nick Rodriquez! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 1 wins and 3 losses; Miami Vice! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Vice gets a clinch. Rodriquez pulls Vice into guard.
Rodriquez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Rodriquez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Vice manages to get himself to full guard.

Vice is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rodriquez controlling the pace for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rodriquez fails to move to back control. Rodriquez controlling the position easily from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Vice is looking to get to half guard. Rodriquez looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vice is desperately trying to improve his position but Rodriquez has a good base and remains in mount. Rodriquez controlling the pace for now. Rodriquez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Rodriquez seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Vice for as long as he can get away with. We've been hearing good reports from Rodriquez's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Rodriquez continues to stall.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Rodriquez fails to advance to Vice's back. Vice is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Rodriquez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Further stalling from Rodriquez.

That's nine minutes gone in the round. Vice regains half guard. Rodriquez content to control rather than advance. Rodriquez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Vice knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
That's ten minutes gone in the round. Rodriquez takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Rodriquez trying to pass the guard but Vice defending well. Vice is looking for a sweep. Rodriquez is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Vice keeps trying to improve his position.

That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Rodriquez wants to take Vice's back but he can't do it this time. Vice reaches up and holds on to Rodriquez to control the position. Rodriquez controlling the position easily from mount. If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Rodriquez is stinking the place up with his stalling.
That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Vice wants to hold on but Rodriquez pushes him away. Rodriquez is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Vice is in real trouble.
Score +3 for taking back: Rodriquez (11) vs (0) Vice Rodriquez has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Vice's body.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
