PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaleki Oliweli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and D Dub Deborde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Oliweli throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Deborde dives in and grabs Oliweli's left leg, looking for a takedown. Oliweli pushes down on Deborde's head and hops out.
A jab-cross combination lands for Oliweli and sends Deborde crashing to the mat! Oliweli follows him down to the mat - Deborde regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Deborde is rocked!


It looks like D Dub Deborde has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Well, if Oliweli is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Deborde is still in real trouble! Can Oliweli finish him?
Oliweli tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Deborde.
Deborde seems to have recovered his senses.
Oliweli takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Oliweli tries to stand and escape but Deborde is controlling the position.
Deborde moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Deborde is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Oliweli seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Deborde is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Deborde will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Oliweli postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Deborde looking for subs off his back but Oliweli has passed one foot through into half guard.
Oliweli blocks the strikes from Deborde.
Deborde wants to improve his position but Oliweli is controlling well.
Oliweli knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Deborde on the ground.
The fighters are battling for position here. Deborde manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Deborde looking for a guillotine here but Oliweli defends easily.
Oliweli tries to stand but Deborde is controlling from the bottom.
Deborde striking off his back but it's not causing Oliweli any problems.

Deborde lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Oliweli!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Poor strikes thrown by Deborde there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Oliweli is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Deborde can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Oliweli is looking to escape.
Deborde scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Oliweli wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Deborde.
Deborde thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kaleki Oliweli dominated that round.
The cut man is working on D Dub Deborde's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Deborde moves away from the strike by Oliweli.
Oliweli connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Oliweli dodges the punch combination from Deborde.
Oliweli throws a lazy right hand but Deborde sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Deborde shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Oliweli as he avoids it easily.

Deborde wants a takedown.
Deborde is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
A short uppercut from Deborde.
A bit of stalling here from Oliweli.
Deborde looking to throw knees to the head but Oliweli is blocking nicely.
Oliweli works on Deborde's body with a couple of short punches.
Oliweli lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Deborde backwards.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Oliweli lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Deborde.

Oliweli escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Oliweli looks to land a combination. Deborde sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Oliweli scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Oliweli throws a nice inside leg kick.
Oliweli drops Deborde with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Deborde! Oliweli dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Kaleki Oliweli!
