PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sammy Beach (ranked 1610 p4p, 1545 weight class) and Clinch King Smash Machine (ranked 213 p4p, 204 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 30 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sammy Beach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 25 - 0, fighting out of London, Clinch King Smash Machine!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Alyssa Summers and Steve Montenegro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Beach rushes Smash Machine and presses him up against the cage.
Smash Machine gets control of Beach's arms and successfully pulls guard. Smash Machine will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Beach got a little sloppy there for a moment and Smash Machine has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Beach has managed to get both his arms back between Smash Machine's legs - danger averted.

Smash Machine has his foot on Beach's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Beach works his way back into a safe position though.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

With the fighters up against the cage, Beach throws an elbow but misses.
Smash Machine turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Smash Machine manages to end up in side control.
Beach throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Beach sneaks out the side door and pushes Smash Machine away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Smash Machine throws out a counter right but Beach avoids it with no problem.
Beach closes the distance and clinches.
Beach has a couple of punches blocked by Smash Machine.
Smash Machine breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Smash Machine tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Beach paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Beach fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Beach doesn't manage to clinch there - Smash Machine circles away.
A little jabbing left from Smash Machine on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Beach lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A looping hook to the body misses from Beach. Smash Machine does a little dance to reset his feet.

Smash Machine fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Beach is out of range.

Smash Machine tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Beach smiles and moves away.

Clinch King Smash Machine's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Clinch King Smash Machine's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Sammy Beach!
Sammy Beach decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
In defeat, Clinch King Smash Machine stepped up to the mic, saying 'I want to thank the fans for the support! We'll be back stronger!'.
