Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Paul (ranked 992 p4p, 547 weight class) and Kim Jones (ranked 27 p4p, 30 weight class). Kim Jones told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, John Paul! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 20 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kim Jones! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
 The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paul gets the takedown into side control. Jones can't do much from the bottom here. Paul trying to control the position but Jones is working away. Jones tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Paul wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Jones is working to avoid the ground and pound but Paul connects with a decent elbow. Paul controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Paul tries to advance to mount but Jones denies him. Paul trying to control the position but Jones is working away. Jones gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Paul is trying to control the action in half guard but Jones is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Paul content to control rather than advance. Paul is looking to stall here but Jones recovers full guard. Paul engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Paul looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jones drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Jones jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Jones is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Paul is looking to sweep but instead, Jones has passed into half guard.
 That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones is working for a kimura but Paul is defending it quite comfortably.
Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Jones prevents Paul from improving his position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jones wants to free his trapped foot but Paul is holding on for dear life with his legs. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that John Paul will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Paul has closed the distance and engaged Jones in a clinch.

 It looks like John Paul has been cut.
Paul gets a trip takedown into half guard. Paul performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Paul is keen to just control but Jones is a slippery customer. Paul slows the pace down in half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Paul is trying to control. Jones wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Paul in particular looking to stall.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Paul wants to take a breather but Jones is having none of it. Paul thows a huge punch but Jones dodges it nicely.
Paul not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Paul is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
 The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Paul tries to clinch but Jones is having none of it. Paul moves in looking to clinch but Jones pushes him off. Paul tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.

Paul drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Paul avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

 That's two minutes gone in the round. Paul sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jones's guard. Paul seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Paul content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Jones trying to hold on to Paul's head to control him but Paul postures up.
Paul is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jones can do to turn this around? Paul tries to pass to full mount but Jones defends it. Paul seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
 That's three minutes gone in the round. Paul trying to control the action but Jones is working from the bottom. Paul stalling away here and it's allowed Jones to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Paul trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Paul has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
 That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Paul controls from within his opponent's guard. Paul wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Paul is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jones is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
 The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Paul is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Kim Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Jones uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Paul. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.
John Paul dominated that second round. The cut man is working on John Paul's cut. That's time! Paul's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

 That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Paul is looking to work some ground and pound but Jones has wrist control. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Paul trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
 The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Paul looks for a takedown but Jones sprawls well. Paul with a poor takedown and Jones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Paul looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Jones is fending him off so far but Paul persists. Nope, Jones circles away and we're back to standing. We've been told by Paul's head coaches at LA FIGHT BARN that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Paul. That's going to take a lot out of him. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Paul fails with an attempt to clinch.
It seemed like Jones was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Paul moves into range and clinches up with Jones. Jones swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Jones throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Jones.
Jones pulls guard effortlessly.
 That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones has his foot on Paul's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Paul works his way back into a safe position though.

Jones is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Paul is aware though and is defending well. John Paul is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Paul showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Jones escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Paul gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. Paul looking to pass the guard. Paul wants to control from the top but Jones keeps moving. Paul not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

And that's the end of the fight! Kim Jones comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Paul has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
