In the red corner, competing out of New York, with a TWGC record of 8 wins and 7 losses; Tommy Reed! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Helsinki, with a TWGC record of 9 wins and 9 losses; Pavel Sova!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Alec Ball and William Peck.


The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way.
Sova shoots in for a takedown but Reed shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Reed closes the distance and clinches.

Reed tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Reed has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sova felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

We've been hearing good reports from Reed's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
