Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Pablo De Geno (ranked 84 p4p, 116 weight class) and Jorgen Kruth (ranked 4 p4p, 6 weight class). De Geno comes to the cage accompanied by DE MEXICO SONG. Kruth has chosen Black Hole Sun- Soundgarden as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 36 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Pablo De Geno!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jorgen Kruth!
The judges for this bout are Phil Schofield, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Geno displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Kruth.
De Geno was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Kruth dives in and grabs De Geno's left leg, looking for a takedown. De Geno pushes down on Kruth's head and hops out.
Kruth shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Pablo De Geno has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jorgen Kruth.
Kruth defending well as De Geno loads up on a big left hand.
Kruth throws the left hand but De Geno avoids the punch easily.
Kruth shoots in looking for a takedown but De Geno manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kruth's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Kruth tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but De Geno swivels and escapes.
As Kruth backs away, De Geno returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Kruth takes one to the side of the head.
Kruth changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. De Geno tries to avoid it but Kruth manages to keep hold of a leg and drag De Geno to the ground. De Geno escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
It looked like De Geno wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
De Geno misses with a jab, cross combination.
Kruth thows a left - swing and a miss!

Kruth looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for De Geno!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
De Geno is trying to buck Kruth off.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
De Geno knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kruth on the ground.

Kruth is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. De Geno knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
My spies in Catch Wrestling L.A. inform me that Kruth has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Kruth tries to advance to mount but can't.
De Geno wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Kruth thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
De Geno tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kruth controlling his opponent.
De Geno is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
Kruth wants to control the pace but De Geno is squirming around nicely.
De Geno squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Kruth content just to control the position here.
De Geno stops Kruth from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kruth is still trying to improve position.
Kruth can't control as he wanted to and De Geno manages to get the fight back to his half guard.

Kruth is working for a submission of some sort.
Kruth prevents De Geno from standing back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Kruth is trying for a kimura here. De Geno looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Kruth wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:23 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Jorgen Kruth!
Jorgen Kruth is the new bantamweight champion!
In his post fight interview, Jorgen Kruth started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
