The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A big right from Jones misses.
Jones thows a left - swing and a miss!
Jones moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

It looks like Cuba Gooding has been cut.
Jones throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Gooding counters with a straight right hand.
Gooding dodges the punch combination from Jones.
Jones has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Dangerous Fight Academy in the buildup to the fight.
Nice defenses there by Gooding.
Gooding throws a combination. Jones tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Gooding scores with a jab to the head.
Jones is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

and Gooding counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Gooding connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Jones looks to score with a jab to the body but Gooding is just out of range.
Jones is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Gooding.
Gooding throws out a counter right but Jones avoids it with no problem.
Jones takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Jambalaya Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A slow jab from Jones misses its intended target.
Sloppy strikes from Jones. Those never looked like landing.
Gooding throws a hook to the side of Jones's head but Jones sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jones throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Gooding moves out of range as Jones strikes.
Gooding scores with a hook.

Gooding ducks under a wild hook from Jones.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Gooding! But no joy.
Gooding throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Jones sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gooding is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Jones had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.

Jones tries to bum rush Gooding with a series of wild strikes but Gooding uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Jones is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Gooding's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

Gooding slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Gooding has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Jones has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Jones there as he acknowledges the shot.

Gooding pounces like a tiger and cracks Jones with a vicious hook! Jones is down but not out! Gooding follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!
