The fighters bow as they face eachother in the middle of the mat and we are under way. Oh darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Da Silva (0) vs (2) Oh Da Silva is looking for a sweep. Oh is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Da Silva looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Oh is thwarting Da Silva's attempts to control the position. Da Silva wants to improve his position but Oh is controlling well.
Oh perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Da Silva controls Oh momentarily but Oh frees himself. Da Silva is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Oh is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Oh trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Da Silva working for a triangle but Oh defends it easily.

Da Silva seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Oh has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Da Silva slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Oh trying to control but Da Silva is working from the bottom. Da Silva controls Oh momentarily but Oh frees himself. Oh showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Oh got a little sloppy there for a moment and Da Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Oh has managed to get both his arms back between Da Silva's legs - danger averted.

Let's hope that Oh has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

And that's the end of the fight! Oh wins on points by 17 to 4. Jisoo Oh is the new middleweight champion! A relieved looking Jisoo Oh thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it. |
