Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mongo Cornell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Trent Hoop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Cornell comes to the cage accompanied by Beer Money : Take a Fall. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mongo Cornell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Trent Hoop!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hoop thows a left - swing and a miss!
Hoop throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Cornell throws a push kick but Hoop slaps the foot to one side.
Hoop with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Cornell to score with a decent uppercut.
Cornell fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cornell slips under a jab.
Cornell fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Hoop avoids it really well and circles away.
Cornell moves forwards but Hoop connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Hoop lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Cornell will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mongo Cornell. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Cornell misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Cornell tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hoop swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hoop throws a right hand that Cornell ducks under and follows up with a left that Cornell also avoids with ease.
Cornell bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Hoop swings for the body but Cornell moves out of range.
Hoop drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Hoop misses with a jab, cross combination.

Cornell shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hoop manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Cornell avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Cornell tries to free his leg and advance position but Hoop is retaining full guard.

Hoop looking for a sweep. Not yet Hoop, not yet.

Hoop has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cornell can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Cornell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hoop on the ground.
Cornell stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Hoop swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hoop looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Hoop can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Cornell controls the pace.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Hoop looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Hoop looks gassed!

Cornell decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hoop, up you get!
Cornell misses with a two punch combination.
Cornell misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Hoop pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Cornell scores with a jab to the jaw.
Cornell fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Hoop connects with a body shot.
Cornell listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Hoop is defended easily by Cornell.
Hoop takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Cornell is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Hoop tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Cornell was well out of range. Poor timing from Hoop.
No luck for Hoop with that takedown attempt.

Cornell takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Cornell throws a push kick but Hoop slaps the foot to one side.
Cornell scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Trent Hoop seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Danga de danga de dang - Cornell scores with a four punch combination!
Cornell stalks Hoop and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hoop's face. Hoop staggers backwards, shaken.
Cornell fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Cornell tries to clinch up.
Hoop will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Cornell shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hoop defends it nicely.
Cornell throws a combination. Hoop tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Cornell ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Hoop moves away.
Hoop on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Hoop shoots for a double leg takedown but Cornell sprawls well. He's pushed Hoop's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Cornell tries to clinch but Hoop moves out of range.

Hoop swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Cornell tries to clinch there but Hoop circles away.
Cornell pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Cornell misses with a body kick.
Hoop just misses with a punch to the body.
Cornell tries to bum rush Hoop with a series of wild strikes but Hoop uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hoop shoots in for a takedown but Cornell shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
A combination from Hoop does no damage.
A jab from Cornell does it's job there.
Cornell looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Hoop pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Hoop avoids a kick to the body.
Cornell throws a sloppy head kick and Hoop moves out of range easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hoop walks into a jab.

and Cornell cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Cornell doesn't manage to clinch there - Hoop circles away.
Cornell lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mongo Cornell dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Cornell wants to clinch up but Hoop keeps it at a distance.

Cornell tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hoop swivels and escapes.

The crowd cheers as Hoop lands an impressive looking overhand right. Cornell doesn't seem phased though.
Hoop tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cornell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hoop somewhat.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cornell instigates a clinch.
Hoop drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Cornell is looking to break free of the clinch but Hoop has double underhooks.

Cornell has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hoop uses from the top position.

Cornell looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hoop is one step ahead there.

Hoop drops back, looking for a kneebar! Cornell looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Cornell looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Cornell!

Cornell shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Hoop as he avoids it easily.
Cornell is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hoop sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Cornell is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Hoop has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Cornell is looking to defend but Hoop has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Cornell! Hoop pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Cornell taps out and this one is all over!
