Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nelson McAdams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Paul!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Nelson McAdams!
The judges for this bout are Leandro Rodrigues, Daniel Cesar and Felipe Paraventi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McAdams changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Paul tries to avoid it but McAdams manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Paul to the ground. Paul escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Paul closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
McAdams tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Paul wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
McAdams is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Paul's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
McAdams is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Paul wants to stand up but McAdams manages to regain full guard.

McAdams throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
McAdams can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Paul controls the pace.
Paul is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

McAdams has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Paul is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for McAdams.
McAdams tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Paul wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
McAdams tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Paul presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
McAdams is squirming around, avoiding Paul's attempts to control the action.
Paul looking to control and managing it successfully.
McAdams is in all sorts of trouble here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Paul controlling the position easily from mount.
McAdams is working to get back to half guard.
McAdams slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

McAdams with the active half guard here but Paul passes nicely into side control.
Paul gets to mount! McAdams was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Paul scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish McAdams?

Paul mounts McAdams! Really nice guard pass there!
McAdams is wriggling around trying to escape.
Paul trying to control but McAdams is having none of it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
McAdams can't escape the position.
Paul takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Paul is breathing heavily.
McAdams regains half guard.
McAdams wants to improve his position but Paul is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Paul dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


McAdams misses with a takedown attempt

and Paul holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Paul is fighting off a takedown attempt but McAdams is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Paul to the mat. Paul regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
McAdams postures up.
McAdams stands and throws Paul's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Paul manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
McAdams gets full guard.
McAdams lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Paul!
Paul is looking to get to half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

BOOM! McAdams connects with a massive shot to the dome!

McAdams with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
McAdams can't control as he wanted to and Paul manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
McAdams seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Paul does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

McAdams is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Paul defends it well.

McAdams is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Paul doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time McAdams.
Paul looks like he's trying to stand up.

McAdams is working for a kimura but Paul is defending it quite comfortably.

Paul has a hand on McAdams's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. McAdams takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

McAdams is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Paul is forced to tap! Great finish!
