PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Ricky Hallt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Daley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hallt's entrance music is Tinie Tempah - Pass Out. A fine choice. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky Hallt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Daley!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Daley as Hallt shoots in.
Hallt misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Daley tries to close the distance and clinch up but Hallt swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Hallt fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ricky Hallt. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hallt circles away from the clinch attempt.
Hallt keeps the fight on the outside.
Daley throws a right hand that Hallt ducks under and follows up with a left that Hallt also avoids with ease.
Hallt has a takedown stuffed.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Hallt decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Daley's guard.

Hallt postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Daley is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Hallt, into his guard.
Daley tries to free his leg and advance position but Hallt is retaining full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Daley passes Hallt's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Daley wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hallt keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Hallt is refusing to be controlled, as Daley sits in half guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Hallt fails with the takedown

and Daley counters by moving into the clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hallt avoids the elbow strike from Daley, against the cage.

Daley jumps guard and drags Hallt to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hallt drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Daley manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hallt has Daley in his guard.

Daley decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Hallt, up you get!
Daley fails with the takedown

and Hallt counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hallt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Ricky Hallt will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



Daley scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Daley wants to control but Hallt is keeping him busy.
Daley takes a little break here. Hallt wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Daley trying to control the action but Hallt is working from the bottom.
Hallt tries to bench press Daley off him but Daley keeps the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Daley stands up and beckons Hallt to his feet.
Daley misses with a takedown

and Hallt counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Daley is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Daley is looking to sweep but instead, Hallt has passed into half guard.
Daley moves into full guard.
Hallt is fighting to break Daley's control of his arms but Daley is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hallt drops back, looking for a kneebar! Daley looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Daley looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Daley!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Hallt stops Daley from passing to mount.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hallt is not content to let Daley control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Paul Daley will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Hallt shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Daley counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Hallt can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Daley controls the pace.

Hallt working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Daley doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Daley manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Daley slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Daley throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Hallt has momentary wrist control but Daley slips an elbow through the middle.
Daley trying to control the position from guard on top but Hallt is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Daley passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Hallt is letting Daley control him for a moment.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Despite being in the dominant position, Paul Daley just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Daley thows a body kick. Hallt tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Daley tries to clinch but fails miserably

so Hallt counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Hallt postures up.
Hallt stopping the sweep attempt from Daley.

Daley is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Hallt wants a takedown but no success here.
Hallt avoiding damage as Daley throws knees to the body.

Daley decides to pull guard.
Hallt is fighting to break Daley's control of his arms but Daley is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Daley wriggles free and stands up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Paul Daley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Daley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
