PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bethania Valverde (ranked 1218 p4p, 1256 weight class) and Davdio Branko (ranked 132 p4p, 138 weight class). Valverde comes to the cage accompanied by LLAMAME YA. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bethania Valverde!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 31 - 32 - 0, fighting out of London, Davdio Branko!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valverde tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Branko's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Valverde connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Branko scrambles back to his feet.

and Branko counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Valverde!

Valverde explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!

Branko feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Branko advances to half guard.

Branko seems to be working for a kimura but Valverde defends the submission attempt.
Branko working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Valverde's thigh. Valverde counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Valverde wants to stand but Branko is controlling the position.

Branko seems to be looking for submissions.
Branko prevents Valverde from standing back up.

Branko is trying to work for a kimura but Valverde is defending well.
Valverde is looking to escape.

Branko is trying a forearm choke� I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Valverde pushes Branko off looking to stand but Branko dives back in and keeps control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Branko is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Valverde has managed to free his arm - good work.

Branko is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Valverde defends it well.

Branko is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Branko looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Valverde is trying to stand up here but Branko is controlling him well.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Branko takes a head kick and keeps coming.

It looks like Davdio Branko has been cut.
Valverde throws a sloppy head kick and Branko moves out of range easily.
Branko is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Valverde misses with a hook. Branko ducked under it nicely.

Branko fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Valverde to the ground. Branko is now in Valverde's guard.

Valverde pushes Branko off and gets back to his feet.
Branko blocks a head kick by Valverde.
Branko tries for a takedown but Valverde sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Valverde missing with a left hand there. Branko was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bethania Valverde dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Davdio Branko's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

A head kick by Valverde misses

and Branko counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Branko.
Branko is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Branko is looking to take this one to the mat.
Branko is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Valverde's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Branko shoots in and drives through. Valverde sprawls well.
Bethania Valverde has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Davdio Branko.
A looping hook to the body misses from Valverde. Branko does a little dance to reset his feet.
Branko shoots for a takedown but Valverde saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Branko ducks right into an uppercut from Valverde.
No luck for Branko with that takedown attempt.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Valverde drops Branko with a beautiful combination! Branko stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Valverde is looking for the KO!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A telegraphed right hand from Valverde misses the target.
Donk. Valverde catches Branko right on the button with a cross.

Branko is rocked!
Branko fails with the takedown
and Valverde counters with a big right hand! Oh Branko is in trouble here! Valverde follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Bethania Valverde!
A very excited looking Bethania Valverde made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
