Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Lara (ranked 2632 p4p, 3622 weight class) and Koji Okada (ranked 244 p4p, 314 weight class). Koji Okada will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Roberto Lara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Koji Okada!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Paul Tew and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okada shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lara is trying to defend but Okada finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Lara is trying to get back to full guard.
Lara looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Okada is thwarting Lara's attempts to control the position.
Okada looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Okada prevents Lara from improving his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Okada tries to pass to full mount but Lara defends it.

Lara is trying to get back to full guard.
Okada is looking to pass Lara's guard but actually Lara recovers to full guard.
Okada must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lara looking for a guillotine here but Okada defends easily.
Lara wants to sweep but no luck.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Okada wants to control from the top but Lara keeps moving.
Lara pulls Okada in close to his closed guard and prevents Okada from doing any damage or advancing position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Okada is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Lara wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Okada is now in half guard.
Lara is trying to maintain the position but Okada is very close to passing his half guard.

Okada looking for a submission but Lara manages to get full guard, putting an end to that submission attempt.

Okada is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Lara is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Lara has escaped and now he's on top!
Okada not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Lara seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

We've been hearing that Lara has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Okada shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Lara sprawls well. Lara wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Okada gets slowly back to his feet.
Lara is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Okada can do to turn this around?
Lara misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Okada.

Lara lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Okada gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Okada tries to lock up and control but Lara gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Okada wants to control but Lara is having none of it.

Okada tries to lock up and control but Lara gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Okada is still in real trouble! Can Lara finish him?
Lara lands a big shot there that rocks Okada but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Okada wants to control but Lara is having none of it.
Lara looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Okada covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
