PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Jeremiah Hobbs (ranked 3829 p4p, 3815 weight class) and Amadeus Macer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jeremiah Hobbs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Amadeus Macer!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Macer comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Macer uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Hobbs.
Macer lands with a shot to the body.

Hobbs drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Macer sneaks back into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Macer regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Hobbs.
Macer avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Macer seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Hobbs working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Hobbs postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Hobbs stands up over Macer, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hobbs missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Macer is pulling down on Hobbs's head to control his posture.
Hobbs throws a big right hand that misses.
Hobbs is looking to work some ground and pound but Macer has wrist control.
Macer has momentary wrist control but Hobbs slips an elbow through the middle.
Macer wants to sweep here but Hobbs controlling him for the moment.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hobbs accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Macer is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Hobbs throws an elbow that misses. Macer uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Hobbs's guard. Nice move by Macer!


That's two minutes gone in the round.

Macer sitting in guard here, content to control.
Let's hope that Macer has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hobbs wants to control the position but Macer says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Hobbs on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hobbs tries to get out of the position.
Hobbs is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hobbs punching from the bottom.
Hobbs wants to get back to full guard but Macer has passed into side control.

Macer stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Macer connects with a nice looking jab.

Hobbs feints and as Macer raises his hands in defense, Hobbs changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Macer bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Hobbs's guard.

Hobbs throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.
Macer slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Hobbs working a defensive guard but Macer passes into half guard.
Macer looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Macer passes the guard and advances to mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Macer controlling from the full mount.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Macer.
Macer is continuing to stall.
Hobbs swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Macer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Amadeus Macer dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Hobbs closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Hobbs lands in his opponent's guard.

Macer wriggles free and stands up.
Hobbs looks for a takedown but Macer sprawls well.
Macer now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Macer has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Hobbs with a lazy takedown attempt
and Macer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Hobbs moves forwards but Macer connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Hobbs gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Macer gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:42 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Amadeus Macer!
Amadeus Macer seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
