Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Marques Roy (ranked 278 p4p, 3264 weight class) and Brennan Clarke (ranked 36 p4p, 369 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 17 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Marques Roy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Brennan Clarke! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Clarke tries to close the distance and clinch but Roy swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Roy closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Clarke moves in looking to clinch but Roy pushes him off. Marques Roy seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Clarke throws a shot to the body.
Roy closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Clarke's guard. Roy throwing strikes but missing. Roy with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Roy working some strikes from top position. Clarke wants to stand and escape but Roy is having none of it. Clarke is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Clarke is looking to stand back up but Roy counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Clarke. Roy looks to score some points with some ground and pound.

Still in half guard, Roy seems content to control. Clarke is looking to control Roy's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Clarke avoid being mounted? Roy is nestled in close to Clarke, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Clarke taking some punishment here, with Roy in his half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Roy connects with a nice short shot to Clarke's temple. Roy lands with a punch from half guard. Clarke looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Roy scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Roy prevents Clarke from standing back up.

He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Roy winds up and cracks Clarke with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Roy takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Clarke trying to hold on to Roy's head to control him but Roy postures up.

Marques Roy dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Roy circles away from the clinch attempt and Roy counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Roy looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Clarke is fending him off so far but Roy persists. Nope, Clarke circles away and we're back to standing. Roy tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Clarke defends well and Roy ends up having to push Clarke into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Clarke breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Roy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Roy looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marques Roy. That's going to take a lot out of him. Clarke looks to land a left hand but Roy moved out of range nicely. Clarke misses the jab. Clarke moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Clarke moves to clinch but Roy breaks away and Roy counters with a nice double leg into side control. Clarke won't be happy with that. Clarke on the wrong end of some ground and pound. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Roy lands some shots froms side control. Roy working the head and body with strikes. Clarke is looking for a sweep. Roy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Roy scores with punches from side control. Roy cracks Clarke with a big right hand but Clarke just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Clarke is not content to let Roy control the position. Clarke is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

The referee asks Roy politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Roy prefers to stall for the moment though. Roy looks up at the clock and then as Clarke takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Roy smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
