PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Samuel Sycek (ranked 1003 p4p, 970 weight class) and Sergej Kusnemirpow (ranked 129 p4p, 124 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 20 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Samuel Sycek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Sergej Kusnemirpow!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Percy O'Donnell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sycek fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kusnemirpow to the ground. Sycek is now in Kusnemirpow's guard.

Sycek got a little sloppy there for a moment and Kusnemirpow has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sycek has managed to get both his arms back between Kusnemirpow's legs - danger averted.

Sycek is nestled in close to Kusnemirpow, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Sycek looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kusnemirpow with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kusnemirpow wants to get back to his feet.

We've been hearing good reports from Sycek's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Sycek has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kusnemirpow to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Sycek is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kusnemirpow pulls down on the head and he's put Sycek to sleep! This one is all over!
