Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jump Nelson (ranked 2266 p4p, 3707 weight class) and Alejandro Ortega (ranked 280 p4p, 399 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jump Nelson!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Alejandro Ortega!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, William Gold and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Ortega tries to sprawl but Nelson drives through with a takedown into half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nelson wants to take a breather but Ortega is having none of it.

Nelson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Nelson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ortega escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nelson gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Ortega has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Nelson frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Nelson lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Nelson tries to control but Ortega wriggling away.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Nelson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Ortega manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Nelson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ortega swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ortega has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Nelson should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Ortega has tightened it up now! Nelson should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
