PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Julius Lew (ranked 212 p4p, 263 weight class) and Presley Chai (ranked 29 p4p, 32 weight class). Presley Chai told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 26 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Julius Lew!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Presley Chai!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lew's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Chai connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Lew scrambles back to his feet.
Chai is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Chai will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Lew feinted there with a counter leg kick.
Lew scores with a jab. Chai acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

It looks like Presley Chai has been cut.
Chai fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lew avoids it really well and circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chai ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Lew gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Chai lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Lew at a distance.

Chai tries to bum rush Lew with a series of wild strikes but Lew uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Chai shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lew's guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Chai working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

I was talking to Lew's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Chai has Lew pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Chai pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Lew tumbling to the mat - Chai dives into Lew's guard.

Chai lands a big elbow - Lew is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Chai!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Presley Chai!
A relieved looking Presley Chai thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
