Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Durant (ranked 774 p4p, 499 weight class) and Sparring John (ranked 96 p4p, 62 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as Sparring John enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Kevin Durant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sparring John!
The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Mauricio Rocha and Paulo Santos.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Durant fakes high and swings low for a body shot but John manages to avoid it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from John! But no joy.
John throws a poor cross that misses
and Durant counters with a leg kick.
Durant wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
John throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Durant takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Durant takes a swing at John's ribcage but misses.
A looping hook to the body misses from John. Durant does a little dance to reset his feet.
As John backs away, Durant returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Durant counters with a stiff right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
John lands a nice shot that snaps Durant's head back.
John throws a predictable looking body shot
and Durant counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Durant throws a hook but John avoids it easily.
Durant has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
John closes the distance but Durant moves to the side
and Durant counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Durant connects with an inside leg kick.

John rushes Durant and presses him up against the cage.
A head punch on the inside from John fails to land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Durant lands a right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
John lands a shoulder strike.
An uppercut to the body lands inside from Durant.
A frustrated look appears on Durant's face as he tries to break the clinch.
John tries a body shot but Durant blocks it.
John has a couple of punches blocked by Durant.
John scores with a shoulder strike.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Durant.
Durant fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
John misses with some punches.
John can't find room to land a body shot as Durant controls the action.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Durant.

Durant gets through John's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Durant misses with a shot to the kidneys.
John lands an uppercut.
John blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Durant fails to pull guard.
Durant throws a punch but it's blocked by John.

Durant lands with a left to the head.

Durant has a closed guard, preventing John from standing up.

Durant is looking for a triangle but John pushes his legs off easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Durant had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. John defends it easily.

Durant is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
John has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Durant is proving hard to escape from.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
John misses with a shot to the body
and Durant counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Durant swings and misses with a hook to the body.
John misses with a looping left.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kevin Durant will probably get the nod.
That's time! Durant's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Durant jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Durant throws out a leg kick but John moves out of range and Durant only half commits.

John gets in close and instigates a clinch.
John lands a hook to the side of the head.
John lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Durant can't find room to land a body shot as John controls the action.
John tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Sparring John seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.
Durant jumps guard but John turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
John misses with a punch on the inside.
Durant blocks a body shot from John.
Durant jumps guard but John stands there with Durant around his waist. Durant gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

John swings away with an uppercut that misses.
John lands on the inside with an uppercut.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Durant just misses with a elbow thrown towards John's brow.
John lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Durant is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables John to keep the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kevin Durant. That's going to take a lot out of him.

I was talking to Durant's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Durant creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

John blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from John fails to land.
A short right from John on the inside.
John swings away with an uppercut that misses.
John has been looking to improve his clinch game in recent weeks. Durant seems to have the measure of him in the clinch so far, so let's see if John can turn it around.
John digs a right hand into Durant's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Durant's gas tank.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
John gets through Durant's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.

Durant is rocked!
John creates some distance for himself and unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Durant's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Durant drops to his knees and John pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:35 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sparring John!
Sparring John decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
