Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dean Howard (ranked 1240 p4p, 1039 weight class) and Chris Pauschi (ranked 149 p4p, 128 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 27 - 20 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dean Howard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chris Pauschi!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pauschi avoids the body shot from Howard.
Pauschi shapes to counter with a head kick.
Pauschi displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Howard.
Pauschi throws a fast counter high kick but Howard manages to duck under it in time.
Howard misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Pauschi.

Pauschi is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Howard shoots in for a takedown but Pauschi shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Howard uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Pauschi has time to react.

Howard decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Howard seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pauschi does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Howard is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pauschi can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Howard is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Pauschi is just riding it out for now. Howard eventually gives up the hold.

Pauschi tries to improve position but can't.

Pauschi is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Pauschi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Howard swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Pauschi avoids the body shot from Howard.

Howard is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Pauschi's half guard.

Pauschi is not content to let Howard control the position.
Howard wants to free his trapped foot but Pauschi is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Howard tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pauschi sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Howard somewhat.

Howard changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pauschi looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Howard cracks Pauschi with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Howard misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Howard creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Pauschi felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Howard is looking to take a break and control but Pauschi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
