Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Korolev (ranked 315 p4p, 344 weight class) and Aleks Nik (ranked 46 p4p, 52 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Korolev might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Holding Out For A Hero (EuroMash). Nik has chosen Ноггано - стволок за поясок as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alexander Korolev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 26 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Aleks Nik!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nik lands with a right hand.
Nik throws a good cross that connects.
Korolev lands a head shot.
It looks like Aleks Nik has been cut.

Nik thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Korolev's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nik looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Korolev with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Nik is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Korolev has one foot on Nik's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Nik has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Nik lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Nik fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Korolev manages to avoid it.

Well Nik has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
