PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bio Frankenstein (ranked 2393 p4p, 1022 weight class) and Kryten Mechanoid (ranked 273 p4p, 134 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Mechanoid's choice of entrance music: It's Cold Outside. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bio Frankenstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kryten Mechanoid!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mechanoid fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Frankenstein sprawls well initially but Mechanoid persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Frankenstein tries to get to full guard but Mechanoid has control of the leg.
Mechanoid perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Mechanoid seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Frankenstein does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Frankenstein is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Mechanoid pulls his head out easily.
Mechanoid looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Frankenstein with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Frankenstein is looking to control Mechanoid's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Frankenstein avoid being mounted?
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mechanoid drops an elbow to the side of Frankenstein's head.

Mechanoid wants to take a breather but Frankenstein is having none of it.
Mechanoid uses his free foot to push down on Frankenstein's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Frankenstein.

Frankenstein tries to hold on but Mechanoid postures up.
Mechanoid wants to control the pace but Frankenstein is squirming around nicely.
Frankenstein is desperately trying to improve his position but Mechanoid has a good base and remains in mount.
Mechanoid lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Frankenstein has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Mechanoid with shots to the head and body - Frankenstein looks very uncomfortable down there.
Mechanoid looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Frankenstein sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Frankenstein is staying active underneath Mechanoid, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Still in half guard, Mechanoid seems content to control.
Frankenstein has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Mechanoid is working away from the top position though.
Frankenstein is not content to let Mechanoid control the position.
Mechanoid winds up and cracks Frankenstein with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Frankenstein is looking for a triangle here but Mechanoid uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Frankenstein takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

You can see the frustration on Frankenstein's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Kryten Mechanoid showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Mechanoid shoots for a double leg takedown but Frankenstein sprawls well. He's pushed Mechanoid's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
