And in the blue corner, fighting out of Amsterdam, with a TWGC record of 5 wins and 4 losses; Slim Perkins! The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, William Peck and Gregory Folan.
The official calls the fighters to the middle and the contest is under way. Perkins closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Borgia's guard. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Borgia (0) vs (2) Perkins Borgia trying to control the position.
Borgia wants to sweep but no luck. Borgia is trying to keep Perkins in close.
Borgia keeping moving, preventing Perkins from controlling successfully. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Perkins being controlled here momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Perkins is pushing down on Borgia's leg trying to pass to half guard. Borgia is fighting to maintain full guard but Perkins has managed to sneak the leg through. Perkins trying to control the action but Borgia is working from the bottom. Perkins content to control rather than advance. Perkins wants to lay and pray for a moment but Borgia keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Borgia moves into full guard.
Borgia controlling Perkins's posture. Perkins trying to control the position from guard on top but Borgia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Perkins is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Borgia seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission. Perkins content to stall in guard here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Perkins is fighting to break Borgia's control of his arms but Borgia is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Perkins trying to control but Borgia is working from the bottom. Perkins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's five minutes gone in the round. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Borgia holds on and takes a little breather. Perkins is stalling in the full guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Perkins sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Borgia's guard.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Perkins is looking to stall here but Borgia recovers full guard. Perkins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Borgia swivels though and keeps the full guard. Borgia is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Borgia working for a triangle but Perkins defends it easily.
Borgia has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Perkins doesn't defend quickly enough and Borgia has managed to lock this one up! Can Perkins escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Borgia on a fantastic submission victory.
